First Annual Dhrupad Retreat In Woodstock, New York:
Join us for six days of intense music practice in which the art of Dhrupad singing will be taught by master musician and teacher Pandit Nirmalya Dey. as well as an introduction in the basic rhythm patterns used in Dhrupad music, taught by one of India’s leading Pakhawaj players Pandit Mohan Shyam Sharma.
We will stay at a comfortable, quiet, well appointed artists’s hilltop retreat house with three gourmet vegetarian and/ or vegan meals daily, as well as constant tea and coffee.
The house has an outdoor pool, and there will be time for outings and hikes in the surrounding hillsides, but the main focus will be on intense study and practice designed to take you to the next level with your singing.
The workshop will be open to a limited number of participants to ensure an intimate setting, with room for lots of individual attention. Men and women receive separate tuition except from the early morning practice where we will sit together.
